DEPART UK
Today, you will take a direct flight from the UK to Colombia, Bogota Airport.
BOGOTA
You are in Bogota, which is the capital of Colombia. In the afternoon, we will explore the colonial centre including the historic area around La Candelaria. Later we will take a tour of the fine collection of pre-Columbian gold, textiles and pottery.
BOGOTA - VILLA De LEVYA
In the morning, we will leave from Bogota and drive towards the small town of Villa de Leyva. On the way we will drop by Zipaquirá to visit its famous ‘salt’ cathedral. Then we will proceed to Villa de Leyva that is a beautifully preserved colonial town of old cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings.
VILLE DE LEVYA
In the morning after breakfast, we will take a walking tour of the old town including Plaza Mayor, one of South America’s largest cobbled squares, the Museum of Antonio Narino and the Monasterio de las Carmelitas Descalzas.
VILLE DE LEVYA - BOGOTA - PEREIRA
We will get back to Bogota by road and take a flight to Pereira to witness and explore the coffee culture here.
PEREIRA
Today explore Pereira which is home to some of the most stunning scenery in Colombia. We will be visiting a coffee plantation and learn about the coffee-making process. Rest of the day is at leisure.
PEREIRA
After breakfast, we will take a guided tour of the towns of Filandia and Salento. Filandia is your typical coffee town with brightly painted houses and pretty cobbled streets. Later visit Cocora Valley – the largest palm in the world.
PEREIRA - CARTAGENA
We will return to Pereira airport and fly via Bogota to Cartagena.
CARTAGENA
Cartagena is undoubtedly the most interesting cities in Colombia. History, heritage and food, together make for an epic trip here. We will visit the old city for its beautiful colonial houses and the wall fortifications, two main churches, Convento Santa Teresa and Iglesia de Santo Domingo. Later we will be visiting San Diego – home to many of Cartagena’s most important architectural gems.
CARTAGENA
Spend the day at our own leisure in Cartagena. Take a boat ride to the Rosario Islands and spend the day swimming in the tropical waters. Also, we will be visiting the imposing Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas hillside fortress which was built in the 17th century and features a complex tunnelling system.
