19th Jan 2018 – FlightsPro.co.uk<\/a> appeals all the tourists in parts of Jamaica to stay in their resorts and only use authorised transport for the time being.<\/p>\n

The island’s newspaper, the Jamaica<\/a> Observer, said residents in the area welcomed the state of emergency measures, with one woman saying: “This will help to protect the tourists as many are afraid to come to Jamaica when they read the news.”<\/p>\n

There is a temporary state of emergency declared in the area around Montego Bay. We hope these temporary measures are taken off soon and bring more security for the tourists & locals.<\/p>\n

It is important to know that the state of emergency covers the St James Parish, which includes the most popular hotels & resorts in Montego Bay<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the reports, the emergency follows the launch of a military operation in the region, in response to a recent spate of shootings in the northwestern parish.<\/p>\n
